Suburban flying train service to connect with Chennai metro train service soon

Chennai’s suburban flying train service is gearing up to join forces with the city’s Metro rail network. The unique flying train, which currently operates along the coast to Velachery, is being considered for integration with the Metro service. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation and Chennai Integrated Transport Corporation have conducted a preliminary study and sent a draft MoU to the Railway Board to explore this connection further. If successful, this collaboration could revolutionize urban transportation in Chennai. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation plans to renovate suburban flying train stations like Mandaiveli, Greenways Road, Kotturpuram, and Kasturibai Nagar, similar to metro train services. Additionally, stations like Indira Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Taramani, Perungudi, and Velachery will also be upgraded. The Chennai Integrated Transport Group will oversee the improvements through tender processes.
