Applications Invited for Lokpal Chairman and Member Positions

In New Delhi, the former head of the Lokpal body, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, who oversaw investigations into corruption allegations against high-ranking officials, retired last year, leaving with five members and three vacant positions. To address this, the Union government has established a high-level committee led by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai to nominate both the chairman and members of the Lokpal. The government has recently published newspaper advertisements calling for eligible candidates to apply for these positions, with a deadline set for applications by 5 pm on the 28th of September. It’s worth noting that the appointment of the Lokpal chairman and members ultimately falls under the purview of the President, who acts upon the recommendations of a committee chaired by the Prime Minister.
