Giant Drilling Machine Crashes into House During Metro Rail Work in Porur

A metro rail drilling machine crashed into a house in Porur, but thankfully, the 3 occupants escaped unharmed. This incident has stirred up concern. The construction of the Vadapalani to Poonamallee metro railway’s second phase continues day and night to alleviate Chennai’s traffic congestion. In Porur, the installation of massive pillars is underway, requiring giant drilling machines. Tragically, due to contractor negligence, a 100-ton machine crashed into Bhakyanathan’s house in Anjugam Nagar from a height of approximately 200 feet during drilling on Porur-Arcot road last night. During the accident, the top floor walls and roof of Bhakyanathan’s house in Porur were shattered, prompting him and his family to scream and flee, fortunately escaping unharmed. Porur police swiftly investigated the incident. Initial findings revealed that the 100-ton, over 200-feet-tall drilling machine, designed for vertical drilling during metro rail work, caused the accident due to the operator’s negligence and failure to consider the house’s position. Police are continuing their investigation.
