Vaigai Dam Water Levels Surge, Flood Warning Issued for 5 Districts

As the water level of Vaigai Dam reached 66 feet, the flood warning has been issued to the people of 5 districts, while the Vaigai Dam is rapidly filling up. The Northeast Monsoon is intensifying in Tamil Nadu, causing water bodies across the region to swell. The Chennai Meteorological Center has forecasted rain in various districts of Tamil Nadu today, with heavy rain expected in Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, and Dindigul districts. In this situation, the Public Works Department has urged residents along the river banks in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivagangai, and Ramanathapuram districts to relocate to safer areas.
