Devotees prohibited from swimming at Tiruchendur Beach as high wind and wave speeds pose safety concerns

Devotees are currently prohibited from swimming at Tiruchendur Beach due to the heightened wind and wave speeds caused by a low-pressure area forming over the Southeast Bay of Bengal. There’s a forecast that this low-pressure area may strengthen further tomorrow, amplifying the risks. Given the increased footfall of devotees at the Tiruchendur temple for the Kanda Sashti festival, the Tamil Nadu Revenue Department has implemented precautionary measures to avert potential dangers. Collaboratively, the Tamil Nadu Coast Guard, Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Squad, and the Tamil Nadu Police are actively engaged in preventive actions, ensuring that devotees are refrained from venturing into the sea, prioritizing their safety during this period.
