Massive Fire Engulfs Vizag Fishing Harbour, Devouring 40 Boats in Blaze

At least 40 mechanised fishing boats were gutted in a massive fire at Vizag fishing harbour on Sunday midnight. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet. According to fishermen and local police, the fire originated from one of the boats and quickly spread to others in close proximity. The incident occurred when approximately 500 boats were anchored, resulting in 100 of them catching fire. While 60 boats were partially damaged and saved, 40 were completely gutted, with each boat estimated to cost between Rs 60 to Rs 80 lakh. The situation escalated as LPG cylinders in the boats exploded, creating a significant sound. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K Anand Reddy reported that five fire tenders were deployed to bring the fire under control. Fortunately, there are no reports of loss of life at this time. As authorities from the police and fire service work to bring the massive fire at Vizag fishing harbour under control, they have expressed their commitment to determining the precise reasons for the fire mishap.
