Philippines Confirms: 2 Nationals Killed in Houthi Missile Strike

The Philippine government confirmed on Thursday the deaths of two seafarers in a recent missile strike by Houthi militants on a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden, with two other Filipino sailors severely injured. The vessel, True Confidence, was hit by anti-ship ballistic missiles off southern Yemen, with reports indicating it had 20 crew members, including 15 Filipinos. The Department of Migrant Workers is coordinating repatriation efforts for the remaining Filipino crew members. The Philippines, a major supplier of maritime labor, is grappling with ongoing security risks for its seafarers, as evidenced by last November’s hostage situation involving 17 Filipino seafarers hijacked by Houthi militants in the Red Sea, who remain in captivity.
