Seat-sharing Talks in TN Stalled: Congress Sends KC Venugopal to Resolve Deadlock

Seat-sharing talks between Congress and DMK in Tamil Nadu have hit a deadlock over the number and choice of constituencies. In a bid to resolve the impasse, high-ranking Congress leaders, including AICC general secretary (organisation) and senior leader Mukul Wasnik, are set to join discussions with DMK president and Chief Minister MK Stalin. The disagreement stems from the allocation of seats won by Congress in the last Lok Sabha elections, which the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee strongly defends. This delay in negotiations within the INDIA bloc, led by DMK, has prompted the AIADMK to reach out to Congress, aiming to weaken DMK’s hold. Despite AIADMK’s overtures, Rahul Gandhi remains committed to the current alliance.
