74-Year-Old Man Trampled to Death by Wild Elephant in Erode, Tamil Nadu Tiger Reserve

A 74-year-old man named Mathiya, who served as a watchman in the Geerahalli area of Diginarai within the Thalavady forest range of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu, was fatally trampled by a wild elephant on Tuesday morning. Mathiya had ventured onto private land to safeguard crops from wild animal intrusion. Despite attempting to deter the elephant with crackers, the tusker attacked him, resulting in his death at the scene, as confirmed by forest officials.
