Security Tightened and Flag Marches Conducted in Northeast Delhi After CAA Implementation

Following the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, security was heightened in various parts of Delhi, including northeastern areas, Shaheen Bagh, and Jamia Nagar. Paramilitary personnel conducted night patrols and flag marches as precautionary measures. Delhi witnessed protests against the CAA in 2019-2020, with incidents of communal riots in early 2020. The Delhi Police identified 43 hotspots in the northeast district and increased patrolling to maintain law and order. Additionally, the cyber unit monitored social media platforms to prevent rumors, and peace committee meetings were held to dispel misinformation. The Modi government’s unveiling of CAA rules allows for granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from neighboring countries.
