Speculation Surrounds Mamata Banerjee’s Fall: Hospital Director Clarifies Misinterpretation

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, 69, sustained injuries to her forehead and nose following a fall at her Kalighat residence in South Kolkata. Initially, SSKM Hospital director Manimoy Bandyopadhyay suggested the possibility of a push from behind, but later clarified that he meant Banerjee may have felt a sensation of push. Speculation ensued over the cause of the fall. Banerjee underwent treatment at the hospital, receiving stitches and undergoing medical tests including brain imaging and ECG, before being discharged. Currently stable and under bed rest, routine checks are planned. Despite increased security, no complaints have been lodged. Banerjee, under Z+ security, was accompanied to the hospital by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, a TMC national general secretary.
