Tamil Nadu BJP Chief and Coimbatore’s BJP candidate, K Annamalai, commenced his Lok Sabha election campaign with a vibrant roadshow in Madurai’s Teppakulam Maidanam, rallying supporters and emphasizing the BJP’s prominence as the primary contender. Criticizing the ruling DMK and its leader MK Stalin, he positioned them as adversaries to Tamil Nadu. A former Karnataka cadre IPS officer, Annamalai joined the BJP in 2020, subsequently becoming the BJP state president. With all 39 seats of Tamil Nadu set for polling on April 19th and counting on June 4th, the 2019 elections saw the DMK securing 23 seats, Congress with 8, and smaller parties claiming the remainder. Nationally, the elections encompassing 543 Lok Sabha seats will occur in seven phases starting April 19th, engaging approximately 97 crore eligible voters.
