Rahul Gandhi and CM Stalin Set to Lead INDIA Rally in Coimbatore on April 12th

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are slated to lead an INDIA bloc rally in Coimbatore on April 12th, a key Lok Sabha seat contested by BJP heavyweight K Annamalai. The DMK, at the helm of the state’s ruling alliance with Congress and others, has confirmed this joint rally, aiming to galvanize electoral support for Opposition bloc candidates. Scheduled for Coimbatore’s Chettypalayam area, the public meeting precedes the state’s Lower House elections on April 19th. The BJP, strategically positioning state chief Annamalai, seeks to challenge the DMK’s dominance, while the DMK-led secular alliance eyes leveraging the AIADMK’s internal divisions for advantage, reminiscent of their resounding victory in 2019. In the upcoming polls, the DMK is contesting 22 seats, leading an eight-party alliance, whereas the AIADMK spearheads a four-party alliance, vying for 34 seats. The BJP, in coalition with nine partners, including the Pattali Makkal Katchi and Tamil Maanila Congress, is set to contest 23 seats, with former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Pannerselvam entering the fray independently. The battleground in Coimbatore reflects historical electoral shifts, with the DMK striving to reclaim its previous wins, while the BJP consolidates its presence since 1996, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral showdown.
