RMC Predicts Rain in South and Western Ghats, Heat Wave in North Interior Tamil Nadu

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasts light to moderate rain in south and western ghats districts of Tamil Nadu for the next two days due to a change in sea wind patterns, while the rest of the state remains dry. Heat wave conditions are expected in north interior districts, with temperatures soaring 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal. A trough extending from south Chhattisgarh to Comorin area will bring rain to select areas like Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Theni, Madurai, and Nagapattinam. Maximum temperatures of 40-41 degrees Celsius are anticipated in north interior districts, and 38-40 degrees Celsius in interior Tamil Nadu plains, with coastal areas ranging from 34-37 degrees Celsius. Erode recorded the highest temperature at 42 degrees Celsius, followed by Salem at 41.6 degrees Celsius and Vellore at 41.3 degrees Celsius, while Meenambakkam is expected to hit 40 degrees Celsius soon.
