Delhi High Court to Decide on CM Kejriwal’s Arrest Plea Today

The Delhi High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Tuesday on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged excise scam. Kejriwal has been in jail since March 21st following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and has been in judicial custody since April 1st. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma will announce the decision at 2:30 p.m. on two petitions filed by Kejriwal against his arrest and subsequent remand in ED custody. Kejriwal’s plea questions the timing of his arrest, alleging an ulterior motive to humiliate and disable him. The ED contends that Kejriwal cannot claim immunity from arrest due to upcoming elections, stating the law applies equally to him and the common man. The agency alleges Kejriwal is the “kingpin” in the alleged liquor policy scam. Additionally, the ED questioned Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar and called AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak for questioning in the case.
