Delhi Municipal Elections Scheduled for April 26th, 2024

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has scheduled polls to elect the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for April 26th, 2024, as outlined in an official notice released on Wednesday. Simultaneously, a meeting of the Delhi Corporation House has been convened for the same day, according to the notice. The Ordinary April 2024 Meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will take place on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Aruna Asaf Ali Sabhagar, A-Block 4th Floor, Dr. S.P. Mukherjee Civic Centre, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, New Delhi, as stated by the office of the Municipal Secretary of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). During this meeting, the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor is scheduled to occur, as per the MCD order. Presently, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Shelly Oberoi holds the position of Mayor, having been elected with 150 votes in the mayoral polls held in February last year. After her election, Oberoi expressed commitment to running the House constitutionally and called for cooperation to ensure its smooth functioning. In the 2023 mayoral election, a total of 10 nominated MPs, 14 nominated MLAs, and 241 elected councillors out of 250 participated in the voting process.
