Gas Cylinder Explosion Destroys Eight Houses in Nagapattinam

In Nagapattinam, a domestic gas cylinder explosion on Wednesday resulted in the destruction of eight houses in Keezhathannilapadi near Velankanni. The affected families, predominantly agricultural laborers, were away for work when the fire broke out in Inkarsal’s house, spreading rapidly to neighboring homes, including those owned by Senambu, Sekar, Mariappan, K Murugaiyyan, Nagappan, and Santhanam. Firefighters from Nagapattinam and Velankanni arrived promptly to extinguish the blaze, with no reported injuries as residents were out working. Among the losses was Sekar’s recently organized ear-piercing ceremony belongings, all reduced to ashes. The thatched roofs of the houses facilitated the fire’s rapid spread, exacerbated by strong morning winds. Velankanni police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
