Congress Questions Modi Government’s Handling of Chinese Transgressions

The Congress criticized the Modi government on Monday, targeting its handling of Chinese transgressions and questioning whether it has “surrendered” thousands of square kilometers in Depsang and Demchok to China. They also raised concerns about the government’s efforts to restore the pre-May 5th, 2020 status quo amidst the ongoing tensions. On the fourth anniversary of clashes between Indian and Chinese troops at Pangong Tso, which led to the fatal engagement in Galwan on June 15th, 2020, resulting in the deaths of 20 soldiers, the Congress demanded accountability from the Prime Minister for what they termed the “abysmal failure” of his China policy. AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh questioned whether anyone has been held accountable for what he called India’s biggest strategic and intelligence lapse in several decades.
