Indian Relay Teams Qualify for Paris Olympics 2024

Both the Indian men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams secured their spots in the Paris Olympics by clinching second place in their second-round heats at the World Athletics Relays. The women’s team, comprising Rupal Chaudhary, M R Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Subha Venkatesan, recorded a time of 3 minutes and 29.35 seconds, coming in behind Jamaica (3:28.54) in heat one to qualify for the Paris Games. Following their second-place finish, the men’s team, including Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob, clocked 3 minutes and 3.23 seconds, securing their spot in the Paris Olympics. Despite a setback with Rajesh Ramesh withdrawing due to cramps in the initial qualifying heat, the Indian contingent now boasts 19 track and field athletes, including defending champion Neeraj Chopra. The athletics competitions at the Games are set to kick off on August 1st.
