April 2024 Breaks Global Temperature Records: Warmest April Ever, Says EU Climate Agency

New data released on Wednesday by the European Union’s climate agency Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) revealed that April 2024 was the warmest April on record globally, marking the eleventh consecutive month of record-high temperatures. The average temperature of 15.03 degrees Celsius was 1.58 degrees Celsius higher than the month’s average for the pre-industrial reference period of 1850-1900. The unprecedented warmth contributed to widespread heatwaves, rainfall, and flooding, significantly disrupting normal life in various countries.
