24 Lakh Passengers Utilize Kolkata-Howrah Metro’s New Underwater Stretch in Two Months

The newly launched underwater stretch of the Metro Railway connecting Kolkata and Howrah saw approximately 24 lakh passengers in the past two months, according to a railway statement. Commercial services on the Green Line 2, from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade, and on the Orange Line, from Kavi Subhash (New Garia) to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Ruby More), commenced on March 15th. Notably, the East-West Metro’s Howrah Maidan – Esplanade corridor, which includes a segment beneath the river Ganga, accounted for the majority of these commuters.
