Iranian President Raisi to be Buried Thursday; National Mourning Declared

Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohsen Mansouri announced that President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash in East Azarbaijan Province, will be buried on Thursday in Mashhad. National mourning was declared for five days by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with funeral ceremonies scheduled across several cities. The crash also claimed the lives of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials. The UN Security Council observed a minute of silence, while Iran set the presidential election for June 28th, with the first vice president assuming interim duties until then as per the constitution.
