Severe Cyclonic Storm Expected to Hit West Bengal and Bangladesh Coasts by May 26th: Met Department

The Meteorological Department warned of a potential severe cyclonic storm forming in the Bay of Bengal, expected to make landfall between Sagar Island in West Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh around midnight on May 26th. The system, currently situated about 810 km south of West Bengal’s Canning, is projected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 25th morning and escalate into a severe cyclonic storm by the evening as it moves northward. Coastal districts of the state are anticipated to experience heavy rainfall as a result.
