Delhi Government Imposes ₹2,000 Fine for Water-Wasting Activities Amid Severe Shortage

In response to the water shortage exacerbated by soaring temperatures, the Delhi government has announced a fine of ₹2,000 for water-wasting activities such as washing vehicles with a hose and utilizing domestic water for construction and commercial purposes. Atishi, the water minister, has instructed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to dispatch 200 teams citywide to curb wasteful practices including car washing with hoses, overflowing water tanks, and inappropriate use of domestic water for non-residential purposes.
