DMK Takes Early Lead in Tamil Nadu Elections as Postal Ballots Are Counted

In the early stages of the vote count for Tamil Nadu’s elections, the ruling DMK, led by Chief Minister M K Stalin, took the lead in several constituencies, with star candidates Kanimozhi (Thoothukudi), T R Baalu (Sriperumbudur), and Dayanidhi Maran (Central Chennai) showing modest leads by 8:30 am. DMK allies, including Congress’s Karti Chidambaram (Sivaganga) and Marxist candidate Su Venkatesan (Madurai), also had narrow leads as election officials began counting postal ballots from 8 am on Tuesday.
