Odisha Raises Remuneration for ASHA Workers

In a move preceding the Lok Sabha and Odisha assembly elections, the state government has raised the monthly remuneration of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) from ₹4,500 to ₹7,000. Furthermore, the service exit incentive for ASHA workers has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. This decision is set to benefit 49,522 ASHA workers in the state, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The state government anticipates an additional annual expenditure of ₹148.57 crore due to the remuneration hike, bringing the total annual expenditure on ASHA workers’ remuneration to ₹209 crore, alongside an extra ₹55 lakh for exit incentives.
