The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19th to June 1st. In Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, polling will occur in a single phase on April 19th, which coincides with the by-elections for vacant seats in Tamil Nadu. The Election Commission of India recommended providing a paid holiday for the Lok Sabha election day, leading the Tamil Nadu government to order a paid holiday for all government and private institutions, including IT and BPO companies. Chief Secretary Shivdas Meena subsequently declared April 19th as a public holiday due to the parliamentary elections being held in one phase in Tamil Nadu.
